Ex.Sy
Transformative Exhibition System
Context:
A transformative exhibition system designed for The Exchange Gallery, Docklands, in Melbourne, Australia.
Insights:
It was significant to understand, document, and analyze the site to zone with respect to activities. Understanding user groups through surveys and user experience study, involving fashion designers, Industrial designers, Architects, Game designers and others, resulted in the various structural requirements for their exhibits. Modularity, flexibility, and creativity became key.
Abstract:
Ex.sy is an easy to use, assemble, disassemble and store, modular, transformative, flexible, exhibition system designed, fabricated, and delivered by a team of 10 designers in a period of six weeks in collaboration with Lendlease and RMIT for The Exchange, Knowledge Market, Docklands, and Melbourne.
Ex.sy follows a grid of 200mmx200mm and breaks itself into frames, panels, footing, and joinery. The set consists of 4 types of frames made out of brushed aluminum pipes, used to mount panels and tabletops, A1 and A0 size polycarbonate sheets and acoustic boards for panels, grid marked clear-coated plywood for tabletops, and designed concrete block footings for structural balance.
